How to Update the Bluetooth (Sidekick) Panic Button Firmware

In this article, you will learn how to enable the auto-update settings in the Customer Portal and update the firmware on the bluetooth panic buttons.

Users with Admin roles can update settings in the Portal. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.

This feature ensures your bluetooth panic buttons are always running the latest stable build, providing you with the best performance and the latest features.

Enabling "Auto-Update" for Bluetooth (Sidekick) Panic Buttons in the Customer Portal

  1. Navigate to the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) and login as an Admin.
  2. Select the “SETTINGS” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Find the line referencing BT Buttons. Bluetooth (sidekick) panic buttons are listed as BT Buttons (sidekicks) for hardware type and React in the Subtype.
  4. Select "Target Version" of the intended device type to expand the dropdown menu.
  5. On the dropdown menu, select "Auto-Update to Latest Stable Build (Prod)".
  6. Once selected, select "Apply Changes" at the bottom of your screen to confirm your choice.
  7. A pop up will appear indicating "Firmware Settings Change," prompting the user to confirm the changes. Select "Apply" to proceed.
  8. After completing this step, you must then update the firmware on each device.

How to Update the Bluetooth Panic Button Firmware

  1. Locate the smart device and sidekick that are paired together. Open the React Mobile Hospitality Application from the smart device.
  2. On the home screen, navigate to the "Pair" tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. The sidekick firmware version is displayed towards the bottom of the screen on the mobile application. If an update is needed, the app will indicate "UPDATE FIRMWARE" rather than "UP TO DATE", as shown in the pictures below.
  4. To update the sidekick firmware, select on "UPDATE FIRMWARE." The process takes under a minute.
  5. Once completed, the display screen on the mobile application will change to "UP TO DATE" to confirm that the firmware update was succesful.
