In this article, you will learn how to scan for beacons using the React Mobile Hospitality Application on your smart device.

Users with Admin and Installer roles can scan for beacons. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.

Steps to Scan for Beacons:

  1. Login to the React Mobile Hospitality application from a smart device as an Admin or Installer.
  2. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device settings and enabled on the React Mobile Hospitality Application before continuing.
  3. From the home page, navigate to the "BEACONS" tab at the bottom of the screen. By default, you will see the filter for "All Beacons."
  4. Navigate to where it states "All Beacons" at the bottom of the page and then select "Nearby Beacons." Now your screen will display all registered and unregistered beacons nearby.
  5. Ensure the React Mobile Hospitality application stays open in the background of your smart device and simply walk the hallways, scanning for nearby beacons as you go.
  6. If a beacon is broadcasting and you are within Bluetooth range, it will report the signal strength in a negative number in the teal bubble next to the Beacon ID. The signal strength is indicated in the teal bubble next to the Beacon ID. When you are close to the beacon, the signal will be a higher number (ex. -64 is a stronger signal than -75). If you do not see a value reporting here, there are three scenarios that may be true:
    1. The beacons batteries are dead and need replacing.
    2. The beacon has been removed from the room or has been tampered with.
    3. You are out of Bluetooth range and unable to detect the beacon from your current location.
  7. In situation (2) or (3) above, you will need to enter the room to physically verify the beacon is in its place and broadcasting.
  8. Once you scan the entire property, review the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) from your web browser. Beacons that are in place and broadcasting will update the status from "Critical" to "Healthy" and the "Last Check In" time will be updated to reflect the time they were last seen by the application.
