In this article, you will learn how to enable SMS/Text and Email notifications for users in the Customer Portal.
Only Admins can edit existing users and enable SMS/text or email notifications for themselves or other users. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.
To Enable SMS/Text or Email Notifications
- Login to the React Mobile Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) as an Admin.
- Select the "USERS" tab on the left hand side of the screen.
- Determine the User who you would like to set up notifications for and select "Edit" to the right of their user information.
- From the "Edit" screen, you will have several options:
- For SMS/text notifications: Enter a phone number and check "I Consent" under the confirmation text that appears. Proceed by selecting "Invited to Receive SMS Alerts."
- For email notifications: Select "Invite to Receive Email Alerts." Once selected, a yellow checkbox will appear next to the email address entered. At that time, an email will be sent to the user asking them to subscribe and opt in to alerts. Navigate to the email received, and click the link included to subscribe.
- Before closing out of the browser, ensure you select "APPLY" to save all changes to the User.
To Confirm SMS/Text or Email Notifications are Enabled
- Login to the React Mobile Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) as an Admin.
- Select the "RESPONDERS" tab on the left hand side of the screen.
- If a user successfully has set up their notifications, a green check mark will appear under the SMS/text or email columns next to the specific responder.
- If email indicates a moderate status (as shown below), the user has not yet subscribed via the link that was sent to their email address. You can resend the sign up email by following the instructions outlined above.
Understanding SMS/Text and Email Notifications
During an alert, the user will receive (3) main messages when using SMS/text or email notifications. The messages received for each are outlined below:
SMS/Text
- "User Needs help."
- "User needs help - Property Name - near Location, Floor"
- User is safe and no longer in need of assistance."
- "Panic Button Activated by User"
- "Panic button located near Property- Location Floor"
- "RESOLVED: Panic button activated by User"
It is important to note that SMS and Email notifications only receive the first location of the alert source. If the alert source moves locations during an event and you want to see the up to date beacon location information, you will need to rely on the React Mobile Hospitality application or the Customer Portal to receive the real time movement during an event.
