In this article, we will discuss the different methods for determining the registered location of a beacon in the event that the beacon is removed from its location.

For React2 Beacons

Only React2 beacons have a unique identifier on the beacon itself.

  • If you have a React2 beacon (small white circular beacon), you can simply screw off the top of the device and refer to the number on the QR code sticker (as shown below).

  • To search this number and identify it's registered location, login to the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com).
  • From the Portal, navigate to the "Beacons" tab on the left hand side of the screen.
  • On the beacons tab, you can search this number. It is important to note that in order to search this number you must add a colon ( : ) in-between every 2 characters. For instance, on the above example, you would search for: "DD:7B:60:05:91:B6".
  • To confirm the beacon you searched and are viewing is correct, click on the line item that appears to review the "Beacon Details" page.
  • On the "Beacon Details," the Beacon ID should match the number in front of you.

For All Other Beacon Types

Follow the directions below to determine where the beacon was located and registered to. You can also use this method to confirm the React2 beacons, if you prefer not to remove the cover.

  • Login to the React Mobile Hospitality application from a smart device as an Admin or Installer.
  • Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device settings and enabled on the React Mobile Hospitality Application before continuing.
  • From the home page, navigate to the "BEACONS" tab at the bottom of the screen. By default, you will see the filter for "All Beacons."
  • Select "All Beacons" and change the filter to "Nearby Beacons."
  • Take the beacon and put it as near to your smart device as possible to scan the beacon. When possible, do not have any other beacons within 5 - 10 feet to ensure accuracy.
  • If the beacon is still broadcasting, it will be the top beacon listed on the device with the lowest negative number (RSSI value). Generally, the RSSI value of a beacon next to a smart device will range from -20 to -35.
