How to Register a Beacon Using the React Mobile Hospitality Application

In this article, you will learn how to register a beacon using the React Mobile Hospitality Application on your smart device.

Users with Admin and Installer roles can register beacons. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.

Steps to Register a Beacon:       

1. Login to the React Mobile Hospitality application from a smart device as an Admin or Installer.
2. From the home page, navigate to the "BEACONS" tab at the bottom of the screen.
3. Navigate to where it states "All Beacons" and then select "Nearby Beacons."
4. The mobile application will begin scanning for all nearby beacons. Bring 1 unregistered beacon near your smart device, so close that it is touching the device.
5. Select the nearby unregistered device that you would like to program from the list.
   • The beacon closest to your smart device will appear on top of the list and typically displays -30 to -40 signal strength.
   • The signal strength is indicated in the teal bubble next to the Beacon ID. Select the unregistered device nearby by tapping on the beacon identifier (ex. E7:33:3D:03:ED:3F in screenshot below).
6. Once the beacon is selected, a beacon registration page will open on the mobile application. Fill out all three categories to describe where you are placing this beacon.
   • Location: Indicates which room and the actual physical location that the device will be placed in the room. For example, “112 behind the minibar” or “112 near the fire alarm”.
   • Room Number: Indicates which room or common area that a responder should arrive at. Include letters, numbers, and spaces, as needed.
   • Floor: Indicates which floor the beacon is beacon located on.
7. Select "SAVE" once all information is added. 
   • For clients with React1 or Carfit beacons with firmware older than 2.6, you are required to select the "Unknown Beacon Classification." Refer to the article When to Select Unknown Beacon Classification for assistance.
8. This beacon is now registered to your property and will display the registration details instead of the MAC Address when viewing from the "BEACONS" tab. To install the device in the registered location, peel the backing from the adhesive sticker and place the beacon in the desired location, pressing down firmly for at least 5 seconds to ensure a strong bond. The adhesive will bond over a period of 24 hours until it is at full strength.
