In this article, you will learn to understand the firmware setting options in the Customer Portal.
Users with Admin roles can update settings in the Portal. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.
For each kind of hardware installed in your system, you will be presented a choice of firmware versions to install.
We generally recommend that you select “Auto-update to latest stable build” and enjoy automatic upgrades as new features and functions become available. We will not change any daily use functionality without communicating that to you first.
Some properties prefer to take a more active role in managing upgrades. For them, we recommend selecting “Do Not Upgrade” from the list. This will prevent any automatic changes. Then, when you are ready to test the new software, select the version you wish to use.

To Edit Your Current System Settings
- Follow the above prompts then select "Target Version" of the intended device type (Beacon) to expand the dropdown menu.
- On the dropdown menu, select "Auto-Update to Latest Stable Build (Prod)".
- Once selected, select "Apply Changes" at the bottom of your screen to confirm your choice.
- A pop up will appear indicating "Firmware Settings Change," prompting the user to confirm the changes. Select "Apply" to proceed.
To Update Firmware on Your Hardware
- Cellular Buttons will compare their firmware version with the setting in the portal every hour when they automatically check in. If the portal is set to a higher version, the button will install the new firmware automatically. To force an update to an LTE panic button, refer to the How to Power Cycle or Reset Your Cellular (LTE) Panic Button article for assistance.
- Bluetooth button firmware can be updated through the mobile application while they are paired to a smart device that is registered as an alert source. To do so, refer to the Operational Guide for the Bluetooth Panic Button (Sidekick) article for assistance.
- Beacons will require a user with Installer or Admin permissions to use the React Mobile Hospitality application to update the firmware. To do so, refer to the How to Update Beacon Firmware Using the React Mobile Hospitality Application article for assistance.
