In this article, you will learn to understand how to effectively manage your beacons on property.

React Mobile uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons for indoor positioning. There are two major ways to provide beacon locations: install battery-powered beacons into each room or connect existing devices with Apple iBeacon functionality already present in each room such as guest Wi-Fi routers by Aruba, Meraki, or Ruckus or smart thermostats by Interel.

React Mobile uses several different types of beacons. For more information, refer to An Overview of the Different Types of Beacons article for assistance.

Beacons send an ultra-low-energy transmission twice each second with nothing but an identifier number. Our portal allows you to register each beacon with a room number, floor, and installation location.

Click “Beacons” in the navigation bar to examine the beacons on your property. Note that some properties rely solely on GPS or housekeeping software to provide user location during an alert, so those properties will not have registered beacons.

Beacon Details Information and Renaming a Beacon

Select a beacon to see the "Beacon Details" pane. From the detail pane, you can edit the floor and room information or delete the beacon. Please take caution as deleting beacons will impair the ability of your people to respond! Beacons provide the names of locations within your property, so removing them is never advised.

Examining the Health Status of Beacons

  • By hovering over the beacon information in the Customer Portal, a tool tip will appear and inform you why the health status is the way it is for the specific beacon. Reasons for showing different health statuses are outlined here:
    • Healthy (Green): Indicates 3 things: (1) the beacons battery life is greater than 40%; (2) the firmware version is up to date; (3) the beacon has checked in within the last 7 days.
    • Moderate (Yellow): Indicates at least one of 2 things: (1) the beacons battery life is less than 40% and greater than 20%, OR (2) the firmware version is not up to date, AND the beacon has checked in within the last 7 days.
    • Critical (Red): Indicates that the beacons battery life is below 20% OR the beacon has not checked in within the last 7 days.
