In this article, you will learn how to register an alert source.
Only users with Admin roles can register alert sources. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.
What is an Alert Source
An alert source is a smart device configured to send alerts from the React Mobile Hospitality application. An alert source cannot respond to or communicate through the app; they can only fire alerts to call for help during an emergency. The device will be paired to a bluetooth panic button (sidekick) to send alerts remotely, without having to open the device to locate the app.
How to Register an Alert Source
- Navigate to the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) and login as an Admin.
- Select the "DEVICES" tab on the left hand side of the screen.
- Near the top right corner, select "Register Devices." This will prompt a QR code to pop-up.
- This code is only valid for 10 minutes. Just close the window and click on “Register Devices” again to refresh the code.
- For a walkthrough of steps 1 - 3 on the Portal, refer to the video located at the bottom of this article.
- From the smart device you wish to register, open the React Mobile Hospitality application and select "Scan QR Code" on the home screen.
- Aim the device at the QR code and once it is scanned, the app will ask you to "Add alert source name." This is the device name and will appear in an active alert. Tap to edit the device name if necessary, then select "Save changes."
- The "Home" screen on the mobile application will now indicate "Send Alert," as an alert may be initiated directly from the app. To pair a bluetooth panic button so the alert may be triggered remotely, refer to the How to Pair a Bluetooth Panic Button to a Smart Device article for assistance.
- Once registered, the alert source may now be viewed, edited and deleted under the "DEVICES" tab in the Customer Portal.
