In this article, you will learn how to update the firmware on the LoRaWan panic button.
Users with Admin and Installer roles can update the firmware on these panic buttons. To change user permissions, refer to the How to Add, Edit and Remove Users article for assistance.
Confirm Firmware Settings in the Customer Portal
- Navigate to the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) and login as an Admin.
- Select the “SETTINGS” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- Find the row that has "WAN Buttons" under the column for "Hardware Type" and lists "Longlife" under the column for "Subtype."
- Select the "Target Version" on the "WAN Buttons - Longlife" row. Ensure your settings are set to “Auto Update to Latest Stable Build”. If it isn’t already, change it and then select “Apply Changes” below the table.

Updating Firmware using the React Mobile Hospitality Application
There are two options to complete this step: updating all at once or updating each device individually.
To auto-update all devices:
- From the "OLD FIRMWARES" page, select "AUTO-UPDATE" in the top right corner.
- This will update all the LoRa devices within proximity for 1 hour.
- You can view the progress of each device updating from the screen.
To update an individual device:
- From the "OLD FIRMWARES" page, select an individual button and select "UPDATE."
- This will only update the selected LoRa panic button.
- Select "Exit" after the update is complete to update another device.
It is important to note:
- Each device will take about 2 minutes to update. Only devices within range will be updated and displayed in the mobile application.
- Once the devices are updated, they will reboot. After the reboot, tap all 3 buttons on the LoRa device to restart the device.
Confirming Firmware is Updated in the Customer Portal
- Navigate to the Customer Portal (https://portal.reactmobile.com) and login as an Admin.
- From the home page, navigate to the "DEVICES" tab on the left side of the screen.
- If the button has checked in following the firmware update, the firmware column will no longer have a red icon and the device should be listed in a "Healthy" health state (see example in the screenshot below - the top button indicates that the firmware has not yet been updated and the bottom button indicates that the firmware is current).
- To check which beacons still need their firmware updated, sort the table by either selecting firmware in the sorting option at the top of the screen, or by clicking on “Firmware” at the top of the firmware column.
- Buttons still requiring a firmware update will report the firmware information in red (as shown in the screenshot above).
- It is important to note that button health can be impacted by 3 main categories: firmware version, check in, and battery level.
